Wiki-wiki Wild Wild West, Jim West, desperado, rough rider... I miss Will Smith, the rapper! His songs were fun! & what happened to Sisqo??
I digress…
I, like many others, love to follow the latest fashion trends. While on my gym’s treadmill, I scour the magazines for this season’s Must Haves and pay due note to the So Yesterdays. I’m also an avid reader of the bi-annual Patone’s Fashion Color Report (just FYI: this year’s color is Turquoise).
Despite my need to be runway worthy (& by runway I mostly mean the Mile, see below), I have always had a special little place in my heart for the Wild Wild West fashion. To me, Western for women is a mix of cowboy & damsel: big silver belt buckles, ornate leathers, boots boots boots, ruffles, dresses with tight tops & flowy bottoms, big silver & turquoise jewelry…etc.
I almost fell over when I saw the cover of Jewel’s new album. It is the perfect example of my take of Western. Plus that dress is out of this world! If I ever have to go to a country music award show, it’s I’d wear (minus the vest & replacing the boots with some stilettos!)
Laura Bell Bundy’s Giddy On Up – it’s such a fun a la Western vid!
Basically, despite what the fashion world says, I will always rock a lil’ Western – even if it’s just a Amparo Blue dress with waist-high belt & brown worn-leather boots.
What’s the one style you won’t let go of?
Whole Foods Review
Friday morning I woke up early & headed over to my local Whole Foods. It was like going to a brand new store since I had never been to the Plantation location (I used to live in Miami & am now in Ft. Lauderdale).
As soon as I stepped through the sliding glass doors I searched for a basket & the Weekly Specials. I picked up a couple things on sale but the stand-out was the Ground Buffalo ($4.99/lb). I had never tried Buffalo meat so of course I had to get a pound.

Mooooooo....?
The meat was fresh and based on the color, it looked like it came from a younger Buffalo. At home we prepared it in the Cuban Picadillo style – the final product was verrry tasty. It reminded me a lot of ground beef, but with a lot less fat and a smoother texture. And for those of you wondering, no, it did not taste game-y. The sale ends on April 27th, so go pick up a pound & try it for yourself!
Another stand-out from my trip to Whole Foods was the brewed coffee! I had a small cup of the Allegro Coffee Company Organic Breakfast Blend with agave syrup and half&half.
If I was tired before the first sip, I definitely was not after. It’s rather strong for a Breakfast blend but with the same great taste. It reminded me of the strong coffees they served in Spain when I went many years ago. I would have to say, the strength of this Breakfast blend is between regular coffee you brew at home and espresso. IE: the perfect pick-me-up. This is the type of coffee I want while studying for med school classes. It’s happy in a cup.

A Blogger’s Delight
Lunch with fellow bloggers & BFFs, Andrea and Humberto!
We ate at Giardino Gourmet Salads off of Miracle Mile. You’ll hear me mention Miracle Mile (the Mile, for short) a lot. It’s a strip located in downtown of Coral Gables full of boutiques, places to drink & dine, jewelry/bridal stores & even a little performing arts theater. The immediate area surrounded the Mile is also chock-full of goodies!
Andrea had the Greek Salad, Humbe the Mamma Mia, and I, being the little oddball that I am, had a Jimmy John’s Turkey Tom Unwich b/c I had a craving for it. We then proceeded to Miracle & Ponce, which should be called Caffeine Corner (b/c there’s a Starbucks & Einstein’s right next to each other), for some post-meal coffee.
I looooove our Mile lunches. We need a repeat soon!

[...] downtown is caa-ute! I adore cutesy downtowns (if ya didn’t already figure from my Miracle Mile obsession) that look like they belong in a movie. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to walk around downtown [...]
