When I’m having problems, I bake. Lately I’ve been having to deal w/ some minor issues/nuances so my oven & I have become BFFs.
And for those of you wondering…
No, cooking does not provide the same effect. It’s similar but not as soothing. What’d ya think I was gonna say?
I don’t know what it is about baking. I guess having to concentrate on following the recipe to a T (’cause I’m Type A like that) helps my mind escape its problems. That brief escape (or 4 hr. escape in the case of cinnamon rolls) helps me forget my worries. I feel calmer & the world is a bright and happy place once again! I guess baking is a pacified form a venting?
Now why baking & not so much cooking? Who knows. Maybe because it is more involved, & I have a mild sweet tooth?
My last baking endeavor was Cinnamon Sticky Buns from The Baker’s Bible. It was very involved (with the bread machine making a guest appearance) and time-consuming (4 hours! to be exact). However, this made it the perfect forget-my-woes recipe.
Just take a look for yourself…
I think undergrad would have been a lot less emotionally-tolling at times had I had an oven. ::shrugs shoulders::
What your non-screaming/non-crying/non-throwing things way to vent?
